Claudio Ranieri is an Italian coach who is currently at Leicester City, in the Premier League, where he was appointed coach in July 2015, after a brief and unsuccessful period as coach of Greece.
The Italian manager was only asked to ensure that the team (which was generally in the lower part of the Premier League or even in the Championship) managed to stay up. After the initial victories at the start of the season Ranieri’s team, however, started to unexpectedly dominate the Premier League, and, with the occasional lapse, continued to lead the League until the end of the championship which, against all expectations, Leicester City won, for the first time in 132 years since its foundation.
The feat of the year by the Italian coach, nicknamed King Claudio, won plaudits from the whole footballing world.
During his career, besides the Premiership, Ranieri has won an Italian Cup (1995/1996) and an Italian Super Cup (1996) with Fiorentina. Instead, with Valencia he won a Spanish Cup (1998/1999), a UEFA Intertoto Cup (1998) and a UEFA Super Cup (2004).
Among the individual awards, he has won five awards as Coach of the month (September 2003, March 2004, November 2015, March 2016, April 2016), one as Coach of the year (2016) in the Premier League, and a National Enzo Bearzot Award (2016).
