Fernando Gomes
Portuguese Federation President
Portuguese Federation President
Fernando Gomes is a retired Portuguese professional footballer who played as a striker.
He achieved great success with FC Porto during the late 1970s and 1980s. While technically only a good player, his talent lay in a fantastic positional sense, which made him very dangerous inside the six-yard box.
Gomes has proven a world-beater as a director, taking on first the presidency of Porto, then of the Portuguese League and finally of the Federation.
In January 2010, Gomes took part in a historic edition of the International Sports Conference, which ended on 4 January coinciding with the inauguration of the Burj Khalifa.
