Mohamed Bin Hammam

AFC President Mohamed Bin Hammam has a rich background in sports administration, having held key and diverse leadership positions over the past 40 years. Bin Hammam first leadership role was President of Rayyan Sports Club, one of the leading clubs in Qatar, in 1972. Apart from football, he gained national-level experience as President of the Qatar Volleyball Association and Qatar Table Tennis Association between 1979 and 1983. Bin Hammam returned to football full-time in 1992, as President of the Qatar, Football Association – the first step in a journey that took him to the summit of continental football, resulting in his election as Asian Football Confederation President in 2002. Six years prior, he was voted on to the FIFA executive committee in 1996, a position he still holds today.
