Jeorge Pinto Da Costa Globe Soccer Career Award
Awarded by: Fabio Capello
If a team which does not play in England, Spain, Germany or Italy wins the Champions League, that is quite some achievement. If the same team, after losing its coach and some star players, has been competitive again over the last two years and has won again, this time the Europa League, with new faces on the pitch and on the bench, then we have a real phenomenon. This phenomenon is called Porto and its cornerstone is Pinto Da Costa.
The Career Award goes to the Portuguese director who has overseen Porto winning all the main competitions on the old continent, while never losing sight of the club’s greater interest and never refusing the chance to be involved in important transfers, such as the sale of Falcao to Athletic Madrid last summer.
